This weeks runs/goals

Hello from Butte, Montana! I'm here visiting my Grandma Roggia while J works. I'm new to this whole stretch/strengthen part of the training schedule, so I'm thinking I may throw in some cross training (as in walking) on those days just to make it feel like I'm actually doing something. I was hoping to get my little video camera so I could record some of the beautiful Montana landscapes for ya, but it looks like it's coming tomorrow and I won't be there. Oh well, you'll just have to settle for Florida next week. I'm traveling like crazy this summer. We're supposed to go to Portland/Bend the week we get back from Florida, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle driving around that much. That's 2 more weeks of driving/traveling making it a total of, what, 5 weeks. Too much. We'll have to see how the kids are doing with it all when the time comes. The good thing though, they aren't going to Florida, just J and I are. Exciting!! It's going to be a company trip, but it'll be fun. They're setting all the wives up with massages. I've never had a "real" massage. The closest I've had is the 10 minute ones after my first Half and my first whole marathons. I'm excited!!

This weeks training schedule:
Monday: Stretch & Strengthen
Tuesday: 3.5 m run
Wednesday: 2 m run or cross
Thursday: 3.5 m run + strength
Friday: 40 min cross
Saturday: 5 m run
Sunday: OFF

My goals this week are to stick to the schedule, blog everyday, and make sure not to eat too much of grandma's Italian home cookin'! :) I hope everyone has a great week.

This Week's Runs + An Update

Now that it's 2 weeks from my marathon it's TAPER TIME!!
Exciting!!

This week while I was gone from "blog world" I was able to run  all my miles + a 17 mile run on down the Provo trail.
I saw waterfalls and a beautiful river.
About 80% of the trail looked like that. The weather was perfect and my legs felt good. It was a nice run. When I got out of the canyon I got lost for a little bit, but after about 20 minutes I was able to get back onto the trail. It was a pretty uneventful run other than a guy stopping and asking how many miles I was running and another guy yelling out of his truck, when I was lost, and scaring the crap out of me. I would totally run the Provo River Trail again, it was really nice.

I think I'm ready for the marathon. I know I'm not going to be fast and there's no way I'm going to do it in under 4 hours, but I'm going to do my best and keep running and finish. :)

This weeks runs are going to be easy & simple:
Monday: 4 Miles
Tuesday: 3 Miles (My 28th Birthday Run!)
Wednesday: 5 Miles
Thursday: 8 Miles
Friday: OFF
Saturday: Crack of Dawn 6k with my momma!
Sunday: OFF

This weeks goals are to run all my runs, have an awesome Memorial Day weekend, enjoy my 28th birthday with LOTS of family, and have a fun little race this coming weekend without hurting myself. :)

I hope everyone has a great week!!

Ok, so yesterday was just a drama day...I feel better now. :)

19 days 'til my first marathon!!

I can't wait! It's going to be SO exciting and I'm going to rock that marathon.

This weeks runs are going to be good. I'm excited to run them because it will put me well over 100 miles this month and I'm already at 506.84 miles for this year!! How awesome is that?!

Here they are:
Monday: 4 miles
Tuesday: 6 miles
Wednesday: 4 miles
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: OFF
Saturday: 17 miles
Sunday: OFF

This is my last big week before tapering. Fun, fun!

My goals this week are to take it one day at a time, get my runs in, lay off the computer, play with my kids, and enjoy family time. :)

I hope everyone has an awesome week this week!
Thanks for all the support guys!

This Week's Runs!

You wanna know what my new favorite is?

Mmmm...they are GOOD! I had some with me on my run yesterday (Thanks Tibet!) and I forgot to mention them in yesterdays post. They make me think of my favorite candy in the whole wide world, Haribo gummies. They taste like the little frogs to me. They make me think of when I lived in Germany, where I met J. :) I'm totally gonna stock up on those babies for my marathon.

This weeks runs are going to be about normal. No major distances, as much as I would LOVE to run 20 this Saturday, I'm going to take it easy and recover. I really would love to run 20...I love, love, love my long runs. I'm weird like that. Haha!

Monday: 4 Miles
Tuesday: 6 Miles
Wednesday: 8 Miles
Thursday: 4 Miles
Friday: OFF
Saturday: 12 Miles
Sunday: OFF

I'm feeling good today, a little sore, but nothing to really complain about. I'm still excited about running 16 yesterday. It's pretty cool that I could do it. While I was running yesterday I kept thinking that 16 is nothing compared to some of those Ultra runners. I bet they look at 16 like I look at 5.

I hope everyone has a great week running this week!!

I am SOOO excited!

This week is going to be a fun one. I have a 15 miler this weekend. I can't wait to see how I do with it. It's going to be my longest run yet. I'm going to do some easier stuff this week with a couple days off, that way I can prepare for my long run.

Monday:  OFF or maybe an easy 2
Tuesday: 5 Miles
Wednesday: 9 Miles
Thursday:  5 Miles
Friday:  OFF
Saturday: 15 Miles
Sunday: OFF or maybe an easy 2 mile walk with the family

Fun, fun!!

My goals this week are to follow the plan, eat right, and keep the house clean.

I hope everyone has a great week this week! I can't wait to read about it.

Happy MAY!

I can't believe it's May already! This year is going by SO fast. So far this year I have reached over 410 miles and I've run 2 Half Marathons. I would have never thought last year that I would have been able to do that. It's amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it. It gives me SO much hope for my future in running. I think it would be really cool to run 2+ half marathons a year so I can get 50 before I'm 50. I think that 13.1 may be my new favorite distance to race.

This week is going to be fun!! My little bro, Hayley, and Little Miss are coming to visit!! Plus, my mom and dad are coming too! So, here's the cool thing...on Saturday 6 of us are going to run a 5k as a family. I LOVE it! I love that we're a bunch of runners having fun together as a family. :)

My goals this week are to get back on track when it comes to my running and have lots of fun with the family.

This weeks runs:
Monday: 4 miles
Tuesday: 6 miles
Wednesday: 8 miles
Thursday: 4 miles
Friday: 3 miles
Saturday: Family Run to Walk 5k + 9 miles (maybe)
Sunday: OFF

I think I'll throw some swimming in there and also some walking with my man. It's gonna be awesome! Adam and Hayley are MUCH faster than me, but it'll be fun running together. :)

Have fun running this week and congrats to all of you who ran races this weekend!!!

This Week's Runs!

Ok, so after watching Avatar I think it's an alright movie. The last fight sequence was the best part of the whole thing, maybe it would have been more amazing if I saw it in 3D.

Anyway.... This week's going to be fun. I'll be running and I'm going to start back with swimming. I used to be a lifeguard when I was a teen and I would swim a 500 every day. The goal was to swim it in under 14 minutes and by the end of the summer I could do it in under 7. I wonder if I can do that again.

I'm thinking swimming will be good cross training for me. I used to LOVE swimming. The only thing I have to do now is get past the whole stretch mark + swimsuit + pale white legs with a funky capri tan line thing. Hahaha! Naw, I don't really care about that. It'll be fun. I can't wait. :)

So, here's this weeks schedule:
Monday: 2 miles (walk) 4 miles (run) +  500 meters swim
Tuesday: 2 miles (walk) 6 miles (run)
Wednesday: 2 miles (walk) 4 miles (run) + 500 meters swim
Thursday: 2 miles (walk) 2 miles (run) + 500 meters swim
Friday: OFF + 500 meters swim
Saturday: Provo City Half Marathon!!!!!
Sunday: OFF

Ok, so it looks like a LOT, but here's the thing.  I'm going to do double days. I'm going to walk and swim in the morning and then run in the afternoon or the other way around. I'm also planning on doing a walk/run for the Half. I don't want to hurt myself so I'm being careful, but I also want to be strong and ready for my marathon, so I know I need to get this stuff in.

Yep, this weeks going to be a good week.

Here's another cool thing, B started T Ball and she's the ONLY girl on her team. I thought there would be more, but it's all good. She's awesome at T Ball and she can't wait for her first game on Tuesday. :) I love my sporty little girl.

My goals this week are to take my time and not hurt myself. I'm still going to listen to my body and I'm going to stop if it tells me to stop. I'm going go watch what I eat and I'm not going to eat 2nd helpings of strawberry shortcake. Haha! I love that stuff. I'm going to clean the whole house and get it all ready for my little bro and his family. I can't wait!!!

I hope everyone has a good week!

This Week's Schedule.

There are two ways I can go into this week. I can go into it with a positive attitude or I can go into it with a negative one. I can go into it thinking that I'm hurt and I can't run, why even try to keep going. Or I can go into it thinking that I'm hurt and this week will heal me.

My brain and my hormones are saying to go with the negative. My heart on the other hand is telling me to go with the positive. It's so hard when I just want to quit, but I've gotten SO much great advice and guidance that I can't quit. I'm just SO afraid that I won't ever heal and I won't be able to run my marathon.+++

I have been blessed with many talents and one of them is enduring. I think that's why I enjoy long runs. This is just another thing I need to endure. I need to do what I'm told and not push myself or give up all together. Every thing's going to work out...I'll be better and I'll run my marathon without any pain.

Ok, so I know this post is all over the place, but it's just one of those days, ya know?

This week's schedule is:
Monday: walk, cross train, stretches
Tuesday: walk, strength train, stretches
Wednesday: walk, cross train, stretches
Thursday: walk, strength train, stretches
Friday: walk, cross train, stretches
Saturday: walk as far as I can, strength train, stretches
Sunday: OFF

There's a lot of walking going in there, but I don't have any pain and I think it's helping me keep up with my training. Plus, it's been a really good way for me to have some positive time alone with myself. The cross training, I'm not sure if it'll be the elliptical or the bike, I may even switch it up every day, I just gotta find something interesting to do while I do it. Maybe I'll watch Run Fat Boy Run a couple times. :)

This week will also consist of a lot of prayer/meditation. I gotta get better....I just have to.

Here's to a great week!

Good luck to all the Boston racers out there!!!

This Week's Runs!

Thanks everyone for all the great advice about my aches and pains. It's so nice having all you out there to help me. :)

This weeks runs are going to be easy and light. I won't do the 16, that way I can heal and then feel better so I can run it later.

My Runs:
Monday: 4 miles
Tuesday: 5 miles
Wednesday: 3 miles
Thursday: 9 miles
Friday: 4 miles
Saturday: Salt Lake City Marathon 5k
Sunday: OFF

My Goals:
My goals this week are to relax and take my runs one day at a time. If I can't go 4 miles I won't go 4 miles. I'm not going to push myself. I'm also going to stretch, massage, ice, heat, etc my leg. I'll also set up an appointment with a Sports Doc and get it checked out that way I know what's up and what to do to fix it. I'd like to be 100% by Saturday, but we'll see. I've also decided that since I'm not going to be able to run as much as I'd like I'm going to have to make sure to track my food and stuff so I don't gain this week at my WW weigh in. Which by the way....I lost 1.4lbs this week! GO ME!

I hope everyone had fun at their races this weekend! I can't wait to read them all.

This Week's Runs!

Oooh, this week...

This week....I have a 16 mile run!!!!! It's my longest yet. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. It's gonna be nuts! I just hope the weather's good and I'm feeling great. I'm excited!

My runs this week are:
Monday: 4 miles
Tuesday: 4 miles
Wednesday: 8 miles
Thursday: 4 miles
Friday: OFF
Saturday: 16 miles!!!
Sunday: OFF

My goals this week:
- Get all my runs in.
- Make sure to get my water in. I've been having a hard time doing that. I don't know if you guys have that problem, but sometimes I forget to drink.
- I need to make sure to eat right this week. More veggies, more protein, you know the deal. Hey, I've got a TON of boiled eggs so I should be covered with the protein.
- Be a happy mommy and do some fun things with my kiddos.

Here's to a great week!

This Week's Runs!

This week's going to be fun!

My momma and papa are coming to town on Wednesday cause my sister's gonna have a baby sometime in the near future (hopefully!). Plus, this weekend my mom and I are going to run the Salt Lake Crack of Dawn 10 miler. I can't wait! It's so fun to run with my mom. :) She's such a  tough woman and I'm so proud of her. She's going to be running her first half marathon this June at the young age of 59! How cool is that?

J was so funny today. He asked me what time the race was and where I wanted him to stand at the finish line on Saturday. He was so upset with himself for missing the finish and I have to admit, I gave him a hard time for a little while when I found him after the race. But, I forgave him quickly cause he's a good man and I know he tried to be there. Like Amy said, "On the plus side, J just didn't expect you to be so dang fast! :D There are worse reasons to miss a finish." The funny thing about that...he said the exact same thing and it's so true. I was just emotional after running that far, ya know?

I love ya, J. You're such a great man! Thanks for being there and supporting me in this crazy running hobby. I couldn't do it without you!

So, my runs this week are going to be:
Monday: 4
Tuesday: 8
Wednesday: 4
Thursday: 5
Friday: OFF
Saturday: Salt Lake Crack of Dawn 10 Miler + 2-3 miles warm up/cool down or double day.

My goals this week are to take it easy, go one day at a time, enjoy my family, and have a fun race with my momma.

This Week's Runs!

This week's going to be fun. I get to run my first half marathon!! Exciting!

I would have never thought a year ago that I would be running a half marathon. It's just nuts! So, I'm not really going to be "racing" this half marathon. It's more of a "run through" of how it's going to be when I run my marathon in June. I'm just planning on taking my time and running at an easy pace. I'm going to take advantage of the water stops and stuff like that. I'm guessing I'll finish around 2 hours 30 min. If I'm faster than that then AWESOME, but I'm not expecting to be under.

This week's runs are gonna be:
Monday: 5 miles
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: 8 miles
Thursday: 4 miles
Friday: 2 miles
Saturday: HALF MARATHON! + 1 mile warm up.
Sunday: OFF

It should be pretty easy. I just gotta take 1 day at a time and it'll all work out.

My goals this week are to eat right and get my runs in. I'm not going to make a ton of goals and then fail. So, eat right and get my runs in should be more than good. Well, I wouldn't mind winning a few of the giveaways out there, but I can't do much about that. Maybe I can bribe someone or something...lol

Anyway, I hope everyone out there has a good week this week.

OH! I read on someones blog somewhere about a group that you can join if you run a certain amount of half marathons in a certain time frame, but for the life of me I can't remember what its called. Anyone out there have a link or know what the heck I'm talking about? :)

Guess who's feeling better!!

I AM!!

It's so nice to be feeling better. I can't wait to try out my new shoes tomorrow and I can't wait to run my long run! I talked to Mr. Trainer man, Adam (aka little bro) and asked him what my runs this week are gonna be like. So, no 14 tomorrow. I'm scheduled for 11 and I'm tempted to do 3 more so I can do 14. I can't wait to reach my new distance goal but, I also have to keep telling myself I gotta follow the plan. It's important to follow the plan.

This week's plan is:
Monday: 11 miles
Tuesday: 2 miles
Wednesday: 3 miles+fartleks
Thursday: 7 miles
Friday: 4 miles
Saturday: 5 miles
Sunday: OFF

My goals this week are to get LOTS of sleep. Eat well. Run well. And most of all...BE HAPPY! :)

Sunday, March 7, 2010

This weeks runs...

Monday: 5 miles
Tuesday: 4 miles + 4x100s
Wednesday: 7 miles
Thursday: 4 miles + 4x100s

Sunday: OFF

14 miles!!!! I can't believe that I am going to be running 14 miles this Saturday! It's going to be so freakin' awesome to be able to say that I ran it. Exciting!

This weeks goals:  No skipping runs. Work my hardest. Go to bed early (starting tomorrow). LOL! Wake up early. Eat right. Watch the sugar. Watch the salt. Drink LOTS of water. Take this week one day at a time.

Here's to an awesome week!

This Week's Runs!

I want to thank all of the great people following my blog, the new and the old. It's nice to be able to share my accomplishments with each of you. You inspire me with all of the kind words every day. Thank you!

This week's runs...
Monday: 4 easy miles
Tuesday: 5
Wednesday: 8 with 4 x .5 mile at 9:15 pace (.5 mile recovery)
Thursday: 4
Friday: 3
Saturday: Run for Red 5k + 4 miles = 7 total
Sunday: OFF

So, at first I was thinking this week was going to be rough, but after looking at it, I'm having second thoughts. It's gonna be easier then I think, I just gotta take it one day at a time.

My goals this week are to go to bed before 10:30 and wake up around 5-5:30 to go run every day. Things change and life happens, but I think this week will be a good one. My other goal...run this 5k in less than 30 minutes! I was 1 minute shy at my last 5k, but I think I will do it this time. Oh, and another goal...less time on the computer and more time with my kiddos. The weather's getting better and the playgrounds are calling!

(Yesterday's food)
(Today's food!)

That's the other goal I have....EAT MORE VEGGIES and LESS JUNK!

Sunday, February 21, 2010

This weeks Runs.

Monday: 4
Tuesday: 3
Wednesday: 7
Thursday: 4
Friday: OFF
Saturday: 12!!! My longest yet! Exciting!
Sunday: OFF

This week will be fun. My goals are to go run early in the morning before anyone gets up. I also want to start getting some strength training of some sort in there I'm thinking it'll help with running and losing weight. Since I won't have much time to go to the gym I'm going to do Wii Fit when I get home from running, everyone should still be asleep so it should work out perfect. The other thing I'm going to do is go to bed before 10 every night. It may be a tough week, but I think I can do it. I've got a 12 miler on Saturday and I want to be fully rested for it.

Negative Splits + Next Weeks Schedule

Boy are my thighs sore! There not as sore as I would think they would be after running 10 miles, but they're pretty achy when I go up and down the stairs. I don't think it's really sunk in yet that I ran 10 miles. I don't have a feeling like I just accomplished this unbelievable distance. Maybe it's a good thing. Maybe its better for me not to think that, but rather think of it as nothing so I won't freak out when I get further up in the distances, ya know?

I guess I never knew what negative splits really were. I thought it was when you ran every mile faster than the last, but nope. Go here to read about what a negative split really is.

Yesterday I DID run a negative split! Thanks Adam for pointing it out! I ran the second half almost 6 minutes faster than the first! I think that's one thing I'm good at with running. I do good at keeping a consistent pace and not wearing myself out the first few miles. I may be slow sometimes, but I'm consistent.

So, this weeks runs...
Monday: 4
Tuesday: 3
Wednesday: 7.5
Thursday: 4
Friday: 4
Saturday: Wild Goose Chase 10k! 1 mile warm up, 1 mile cool down or double day. Total miles 8
Sunday: Off

My goal this week is to get my runs in early and go to bed early. I'm feeling so much better now that I've been going to bed before 10 every night. Sleep really makes a difference. I also need to lay off the salt, I can really feel myself getting bloated from all the pizza and junk I've been eating. I need more lean meats with fruits and veggies. I gotta eat right!

Saturday's Jason's birthday and my race is 2.5 hours away in the middle of no where Utah. But, it'll be fun we're going to make a fun day out of it. I am hoping to make this my fastest 10k! I'd love for it to be under an hour. If I take my other runs easy this week and get the sleep and food I need I totally think I can do it. This course is pretty flat, I'm not too worried about that. Let's hope the weather stays as nice as it has been cause that would make it that much easier.

Sunday, February 7, 2010

A new week....

I'm excited for this week's runs! I am so excited to run 10 miles. I have NEVER run that far, I've never THOUGHT to run that far, and I KNOW I can run that far.

My goal is to run every morning this week before the kids wake up. I think I can do that. :) I think the hardest part will be going to bed early so I can wake up so early. But, I can do it!!!

I can do hard things.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

9 miles + Negitive Splits!!!

This morning I got up at 4:20 got dressed and went for my run! I felt really great. I thought a couple times towards the end of my run about how I could run it 2 more times. I did my run today at a consistent pace and did it without stopping. At this point in time I'd have to stop and walk a couple times, but I'm thinking by June I won't need to walk at all. I think I'll have to figure out ways to not get bored while I run for such a long distance. I got done in 1.42.50! I love when I run negative splits.

Here they are:
Mile 1: 12.36
Mile 2: 11.53
Mile 3: 11.51
Mile 4: 11.36
Mile 5: 11.15
Mile 6: 11.06
Mile 7: 11.01
Mile 8: 10.49
Mile 9: 10.40

I think it's so cool when I run negative splits on such a long run. You'd think it would be the other way around where I'd go slower towards the end cause of how far I'm going, but nope. :) I feel really good about my run!!

So, I weighed in at WW and I maintained again for the 3rd week in a row. I'm still 168.6. I haven't been tracking for a while, so this week my goal is to track all my food and eat lots of protein. That means lots of buffalo chicken wraps and rotisserie chicken salads. YUM!

I also want to try hard to get out and run early in the morning. I feel so much better when I run early.

TIME FOR LUNCH! :)
