    ReplyDelete
  8. Hmm...not sure on the tip as I have only run 5k's so I don't really think I am qualified. How about stay hydrated!

    ReplyDelete
  9. My routine is to lay out everything I can(including breakfast), double check it, set a few alarms and try and sleep! Then I get to the race place early and pace until go time!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I love running skirts! I have the black and white polka dot one already and would love any of the others. I have my eye on a pink one someday.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The longest race I've ever run is a 5k (I'm working towards a 10K), so I don't think my advice counts for much...but make sure you double check your alarm clock.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I LOVE runningskirts.com! Their "running" style is my fav! I need a basic black.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I love the idea of something to keep my shoes from smelling :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I have only done 5ks, but my biggest tip would be to believe in yourself!! You've trained for this, and you won't be last...no matter how much you believe you might be lol.

    ReplyDelete
  15. My marathon advice?

HAVE fun! You've put in the miles, completed training and now you can ENJOY!

    ReplyDelete
  16. And I always have everything laid out ahead of time. And make sure you confirm with your cheering section where they should be (giving them maps of the course hellps)

    ReplyDelete
  17. The night before I lay out my clothes/gadgets/shoes/clean socks/hairband etc. EVERYTHING. Then I double check my alarm and make Hubster set his too. Morning of I get up 2hrs before the race, eat a snack, go to the bathroom, double check all my gear, then head out the door and blare loud rockin' music the whole way to the race!

  27. SO I have a list of runningskirts I want!
I love any of the blue ones! I love the cheetah and pool skirt. I also really like the white skirt too.
I am a barefoot runner so the stuffits are not for me but a skirt.....I think I am addicted to skirts!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like the pink stuffitts!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Awesome giveaway! I would love to have a black athletic skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Pre-race routine?
I always eat a Kashi or Newman's Own frozen pizza. I put together a playlist and load my iPod, then I set out all my stuff.
    I always forget 1 thing =)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I linked your giveaway in my blog
    http://superfoodsuperfood.wordpress.com/giveaways/

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hydrate early - don't leave it to the day before, thinking that it will be enough to get you through.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love Running Skirts and own quite a few. Their jogbras and tops are equally comfy!

After today's downpour at a race, I thought I was going to lose my skirt at 4KM. Not sure what I would have down if I did.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My shoes don't smell but my husband's definitely do. This would be a win that would have to go straight to the big guy!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I linked you on my sidebar in giveaways :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love running skirts, I do not have one yet. This is the first I have ever heard of stuffits, I love the idea ! I love them both but if I had to choose one ..I would pick the running skirt :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. My favorite skirt is the one pictured here - but I can't find it on the website, what's it called? It's cute!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I follow - always have always will. :D I call myself an OOOOLLLD friend!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm not a marathoner, so this probably doesn't mean much coming from me.....but I think that you should just plain enjoy it! Distances are your thing, and this is the perfect distance for you, so ENJOY IT!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Every time I'm going to run a race I spend time the night before jogging and stretching, then I lay out all of my clothes, socks, shoes, shades (courtesy of you...) and make sure my ipod is charged. I'm also a bit paranoid about not making it on time, so I wake up early, shower and get ready then leave with PLENTY of time to do everything. Maybe I'll relax about that the more I race....

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love their athletic skirts with the shorts underneath

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am officially following now. Sorry I didn't realize I wasn't before. I use the links from comments to get to blogs I read but I know it's nicer to know who is reading esp. when I don't have time to comment all the time!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have been stalking Running Skirts to find one in my size on sale. (since money is tight until hubbs finds a new job) So I really want to win an Athletic skirt...any of them would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Marathon tip.

My first 3 marathons were some of my big times by both definations. I enjoyed them the most and crossed the finish line with great times. I believe I achieved that by doing two simple things. Getting in my training and having fun! You can not control everything because a 100 things can happen race day so believe that you will get out of your marathon what you put into it and have FUN!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am linking you in my post! Give me a little bit and come read...I give great linking love!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I am a creature of habit but I don't have a pre-race ritual. I usually just try and get great sleep two nights before the race (the night before will be jitter-filled anyway!), I eat well the week leading up to race day and eat light (carb heavy 2 days before) the day before the race. Biggest advice...get your body used to going to the bathroom early in the morning! Once that is out of the way, you can relax and just put one foot in front of the other!...and smile for all the race photogs.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I LOVE Running Skirts. But you knew that. If I won, I think I would get the fuschia one! And I am all for anything that helps my shoes last longer ... and pink stuffitts would do that

    ReplyDelete
  48. My best marathon tip: go out conservatively. 26.2 is a long way. Respect the distance. And wear something to make you stand out. People will cheer for you if you do! That's how my sock obsession started!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Pre-race: I lay everything out the night before. Then I get up at least 2 hrs before the start time and have a bowl of cereal (my pre-race favorite) and try to relax. I try to treat every race like a long run ... no extra hype. And always remember to enjoy it!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I like the athletic skirt since it has the compression shorts and I love the run love fleurs pattern. I'd never heard of Stuffitts, but they seem like a great idea. I'd get the pink ones so my husband wouldn't steal them.

    ReplyDelete
  51. You are linked on my sidebar.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I haven't done a marathon (yet), but I'd have to say that you should just enjoy the experience. You'll no doubt have a time goal, but remember that it's your first so roll with what the day brings (so that we can read an awesome race report!).

    ReplyDelete
  53. My routine consists of the usuals - set out stuff so it's ready to go, hydrate, eat, get good sleep, hydrate, eat, go to the bathroom, leave for race, go to the bathroom again (even if I don't think I have to since once I start I usually do...), RUN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. i LOVE the skirts all of them, but my favorite right now is the pink polka dot.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I've only run a half, never a full, but just have fun, and whatever happens ,happens.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Decide what I am wearing, eat a bagel, pee, pee, pee, drink water, and pee again:)

    ReplyDelete
  57. I love all the skirts. I'd love to get matching orange ones for me and my daughter. Also love the black polka dot. My shoes would love some TLC~Stuffitts

    ReplyDelete
  58. Marathon Tip~Enjoy every second. Make sure and hydrate well and eat at least 2 hours before the start.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Night before ritual~Lay out my running gear, attach chip, attach bib, don't eat anything new, drink plenty, and try as hard as possible to get as much sleep as you can. I have issues with the last one but I'm working on it.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I linked the giveaway on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  61. love running skirts! I dont have any in the brown color family though so i would love one of those! I am not sure about what the other things are but would love to find out!

    ReplyDelete
  62. here is my tip: dont eat anything new the day before the race!

    ReplyDelete
  63. pre race routine:
    -get a LOT of sleep
-eat in plenty enough time before the race

    ReplyDelete
  67. pre-race ritual, I lay out all my stuff - clothes, shoes, fuel, etc the night before. I pin my bib on and put the d-tag or chip on my shoe.

Morning of, eat pb on bagel and banana, drink water, and make sure you poop (TMI? no, it's necessary!).

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  70. why do I love running skirts? Because they are the only thing that doesn't ride up on me and I always gets tons of compliments when I run in them! And Cindy and Christy are so great! Not only did I meet them at the expo but they were at mile 20 of the marathon cheering all the skirts on!

    ReplyDelete
  71. not a new friend/follower...but a friend all the more!

    ReplyDelete
  72. having just run my first marathon yesterday...my best advice came from Bethany...when it gets tough just remember time will pass whether you are running or not. The hours will go by...at the end of them how do you want to be able to say you spent them =) the pain and fatigue will pas, the joy will not! Oh, and its okay to let yourself cry =)

    ReplyDelete
  73. I love Running Skirts!! I like the athletic style with the compression shorts underneath. If I won, I think I would get the black dot one.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Stuffitts look pretty cool. I had never heard of them. If I won I'd probably be tempted to get them for my daughter (in pink of course!), I don't know how a 6 year old can have such smelly feet!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. As for marathon advice, I don't have anything technical as I've yet to run one. I would imagine that it's pretty mentally tough as well as physically though so if you hit that mental wall just remember that you've done the training and you can do it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Night before a race, I get everything ready and laid out. For good luck, though, I like to sleep in the race shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  77. will post back tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  78. oh one other tip...somewhere on your race shirt put your name and "my first marathon" helped me so much when people would run with me and say "Katye, congrats on your first marathon you're doing great!"

    ReplyDelete
  79. I've linked you to my sidebar and added you to my blogroll just for fun. I look forward to following you more officially! :)

  84. I love RunningSkirts.com and Stuffits. I love the easily accessible (and large) pockets on the skirts. Plus, they're so comfortable! I've also found my Stuffits to be really useful. I love that they insides are replaceable! I switch them back and forth between all of my shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Would really love to have one of their running skirts - I like the Black Dot and the Run Love Fleurs!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I haven't run a marathon yet, so I think that they best advice that I can give is to believe in yourself. You're strong and you can make it through those last miles. Enjoy yourself, too! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  87. The night before my races I lay out my clothes, inhaler, shoes, race number, etc. It helps me sleep better knowing that everything's ready. I usually also set two alarms.

    ReplyDelete
  98. my tip for your marathon (having yet to do one of my own) is have fun. Why do it if you're not going to enjoy it (at least a little). :D

    ReplyDelete
  99. I plan to set everything out I'll need the next day (clothes, food, shoes, etc). And pray. Pray. Pray that God will see me through the end.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I found you via Shelly (It's Just One Foot in Front of the Other). I love the running skirts and think the Black Dot would be awesome! I'm all about comfort when I run and skirts are oh-so comfortable. I've never heard of Stuffitts so I learned a lot. The 'shoes don't smell' part! Unfortunately, I was having a hard time navigating their site.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm a new follower of your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I've never run a marathon so I have no advice on that front. The one piece of advice I can share that pertains to races and running alike is to enjoy it and live in the moment! You only get your first marathon one time. GL - I can't wait to read all about it.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Pre-race the night before is making sure everything I need is out and ready for me. Drink water. Hit the pillow early!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Hmmm... marathon preparation... be confident in your training, and believe in yourself. (And pray for good running temps/lack of humidity :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. I put your giveaway up on my blog!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Running skirts - I'd love any of them, but do especially like the florals.

    ReplyDelete
  107. And I'd also love to win a pair of stuffits... anything to help my running shoes stink less!

    ReplyDelete
  108. my marathon tip is loads of vaseline on your toes...even if you don't normally get blisters...lube those puppies up!

    ReplyDelete
  109. pre-race routine includes eating low-fat carbs w/ protein and not getting any sleep, but its OK...sleeping comes later

    ReplyDelete
  110. I have been working out in a skirt for years. I think I first found one after my second was born and he will be nine soon. I will never go back to shorts. The Plaid skirts are awesome! I have never heard of stuffitts, they look like a great product!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Marathon Tip;

With the passing of John Wooden I have been reading a lot of his quotes and think this one is right for you.

"Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming."

    ReplyDelete
  112. I am strictly a "run for fun" girl. I have never run in a race. Maybe in PE as a child but not since.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I don't have a runnin gskirt but would love one- like the plain back one.

  118. ive been thinking about getting some stuffits because my trail shoes get really wet on some runs and take days to dry....and end up kinda stinky ewwww

    ReplyDelete
  119. i have yet to run a marathon, so i dont have much advice on that one other than leave it all out on the pavement, you trained hard for this, no matter what the outcome you will be a MARATHONER.

    ReplyDelete
  120. my prerace routine consists of a great meal the night before, pinning my number to my shirt, laying out all my clothes and gear, checking and double checking to make sure i packed everything. wake up around 5am, small cup of coffee, make sure i poo before i leave the house. once on sit, body glide up, lace up my shoes and hope for the best.

    ReplyDelete
  121. The running skirts look awesome. I've been on the website quite a bit looking at them, but don't have the money for one right now. But they are so cute. I had never heard of stuffits, but those look handy as well.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Even though I've never run a marathon my advice would be to make sure you stay hydrated and enjoy the experience.

    ReplyDelete
  123. 1. I visited both sites and I think both the products are great. I have never worn a running skirt but I would love to try one. My workout gear needs a makeover :)I loved the black because I could wear it with so many things but I also really liked the polka dot black and pink ones, I liked the cheeta prints too. 2. I do follow your blog. 3. Marathon advice. Be confident at the start. You have trained and prepared really hard for this. Enjoy the run. Think positively when your mind starts to wear on you. Night before, find your happy place and picture it so that when your mind starts to go, you can go back to your happy place. It will help. I promise. Good Luck and Have Fun. You're going to do great and you will be so proud when your finished.

  134. Hi! I'm a new follower of your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I love running skirts and currently own a cheetah/purple one that I wore for a women's half marathon in my town over the weekend. I'm dying to get one of the plaid (either red or purple) or a camo one.

    ReplyDelete
  136. My best running advice for your marathon is just to relax and have fun. The hardest part is doing the training, so on marathon day, you just need to have confidence you can do it. And even if you don't feel 100% for 100% of the race, don't get discouraged because that many miles is a journey, and it's has it's ups and downs. Also, stay hydrated and take Gus, gels, or whatever you need for keeping your blood sugar up, so you can feel strong at the finish.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I'd love one of the athletic style skirts in any pattern.

Pink stuffits would work for me. ;0)

    ReplyDelete
  138. I'm such a HUGE RunningSkirts.com fan and I now have 4 skirts...but I could definitely use them in all colors. I totally want the pink polka dot one!

For some reason, the Stuffitts page wasn't working for me. :(

    ReplyDelete
  139. A marathon tip? Hmmm...bring loose fitting shoes/sandals for after the run. And make sure to use Body Glide if you need it!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Momma Twitch, for some reason I thought I was already a follower...sorry about that.

Pre-race routine: Night before is pasta for dinner and lots of water. Bed early.

  144. I've never ran a marathon, but would love to one day. My only tip is to have Fun :)

    ReplyDelete
  145. My pre-race routine. I like to have a hearty meal + lots of water, set out all my essentials - glide, gu's, outfit, race kit, bib, camera, charge my garmin, check the weather, set a few alarm clocks and go over the race route.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I love pretty much everything on the Runningskirts website. The camo is my favorite print. I've never hear dof stuffitts before, so that was interesting. I wonder if they'd work in my Vibrams...

    ReplyDelete

  148. Listed a link on my giveaway sidebar on my blog

    ReplyDelete
  149. My pre- race routine starts a couple days before. I focus on getting plenty of water and eating lots of complex carbs. I also try to make sure that the nights leading up to the race I'm getting plenty of sleep. I have a tendency to not sleep well the night before. The night before I'll usually have some pasta and more water. Then I lay out everything I think I might need and set the alarm nice and early. I like to get to the start 30-45 min early to hit the bathroom and mingle.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I would get the black dot athletic skirt . . . love those compression shorts underneath!

    And teh pink stuffits!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  152. Marathon tip . . . that is tough since I have not run one yet, but from all I have read and the friends that I know who have run one . . . tak your own water bottle or fuel belt . . . it just makes it all easier

    ReplyDelete
  153. Pre-race routine: The night before I lay out all my clothes and check the weather forecast for the next day. I also get out an gels, water bottles, etc I may need and I tie my timing chip to my shoe. Then I take a shower right before bed and set my alarm clock. The next AM I have some water, iced coffee and PB and honey crackers! At the race I get my ipod set and I use the parta potties at least twice . . . I really do not like to stop during the race!

  156. From Running Skirts I would love the PUrple Plaid skirt

I think the Stuffits would be awesome to have along with me on the Ragnar Wasatch Back next week. If we get rain and my shoes get wet on one leg, MAYBE they will get a little drier before the next leg so I don't end up with blisters :)

  158. I have never done a full, but in my half marathon last week (my first ever) I learned that I had to walk through the aid stations so I could drink the gatorade towards the end because I knew I was getting dehydrated and REALLY needed those electrolytes. SO allow your self to walk to get your drink if you need it. I also carried my own water so I could easily drink when I needed it (I used a hand held water bottle)

  159. Hmm...pre race routine:
Night before-Layout clothes, Gu, GPS etc (and make sure I know where the car keys are...LOL..I am notorious for losing them)
Morning of: Wake up, TRY to eat something small (I usually can't though), get dressed and go.

Down a Gu 15 mins pre race and head to the start line...then it is game on!

  160. I've been wanting one of the plaid running skirts for a very long time! I also think the stuffits are quirky while being functional!

  161. I'm training for my first marathon, but for all my previous races, I lay everything out the night before in one spot, and three days before I start hydrating more than usual.

  165. One of the things I am so thankful for in my marathon training was finding Bodyglide. I don't know if you use it or not- but I didn't get a single blister on my feet. It's seriously magical! The other tip- make sure you are having fun. If you aren't having fun, you may start doubting your abilities while you're running the race and that can make or break the whole thing.
